About the Eight Mile Boulevard Association (8MBA)

8MBA Geographic Boundaries

The Eight Mile Boulevard Association (8MBA) was established in 1993 by thirteen communities and three counties along Eight Mile Road along with the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, and the Greater Detroit Economic Group to facilitate collaboration between these stakeholders toward the revitalization of Eight Mile Road, with a focus on the corridor from I-94 in the east to I-275 in the west, a span of 27 miles.

8MBA is an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization which pursues its collaborative mission by linking the efforts of the public and private sectors on projects that make a tangible, positive impact. 8MBA and its partners employ these projects to unlock Eight Mile’s socioeconomic potential, which is limited only by outdated negative perceptions about the corridor; our projects include business assistance, code compliance and public safety interventions, beautification projects and more.

Through our work, we inspire Eight Mile's diverse community of municipalities, businesses, residents and other groups to connect as one cohesive force to rally around one of Michigan's most famous boulevards. As a convener of this diverse, regional family of stakeholders, 8MBA helps, through tangible action, to realize Eight Mile's true potential as a regional connector rather than the divisive role it has been historically assigned.
